Dock Worker

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet donors at the dock with a friendly, professional attitude and thank them for their support
  • Safely lift, carry, and load/unload furniture, appliances, and other donated items from vehicles and trucks
  • Inspect donations for quality and safety, and politely decline items that don't meet ReStore guidelines
  • Sort and stage incoming donations for pricing and placement on the sales floor
  • Operate hand trucks, dollies, and pallet jacks to move heavy or bulky items
  • Keep the donation dock, loading area, and storage space clean, organized, and free of hazards
  • Assist with loading purchased items into customers' vehicles as needed
  • Support pickup crews with loading and unloading the donation truck when scheduled
  • Follow all safety procedures for lifting, equipment use, and hazardous material handling
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the ReStore Manager

Qualifications

  • Valid TN driver's license
  • Reliable transportation
  • Able to work in the elements, including hot and cold weather and rain
  • Able to lift 50 lbs and use a hand truck to move appliances and furniture
  • Must pass a clean background check
  • Must pass a drug test
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a small team
  • Strong customer service instincts; enjoys interacting with donors and shoppers
  • Prior experience with warehouse, moving, delivery, or retail stockroom work is a plus, but not required
